1. The seller
The legal seller for your order will be identified at checkout and on your receipt. Handpress products are developed by ONE BOY MEDIA LIMITED, registered in England and Wales under company number 13665884. Its registered office details are available via Companies House.
Contact: hello@handpresstools.co.uk.
2. The products
Handpress and Handpress: Assay are Windows desktop applications. Each works independently. The Hand & Eye bundle includes a licence for both products. A purchase supplies the Windows version. Any future Mac version will be offered on the terms stated when it becomes available.
Handpress edits and lays out suitable HTML documents and can save edited HTML or produce a PDF. Handpress: Assay reviews writing for recognisable machine-writing patterns. It does not determine authorship and a finding is not proof that AI wrote the text.
The product description, compatibility information and any Assay scan-credit allowance shown at checkout form part of the contract. Handpress: Assay includes 250 scan credits with the initial purchase. Each scan makes two reads, the findings and the general observations, and each read uses one credit for every 2,000 words of the document, rounded up. A document of up to 2,000 words therefore uses two credits per scan. The local scan, the prompt injection scan and the hidden character check use no credits at all. Credits have no expiry date. An optional update renewal keeps updates coming and does not add credits.
3. Price and payment
The confirmed product prices are £50 for Handpress, £50 for Handpress: Assay and £70 for the Hand & Eye bundle. Before payment, the checkout must show the total amount payable, including any applicable tax or charge.
Payment is handled by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record for your order and is shown as the seller on your receipt. Paddle collects the payment, applies any tax due in your country and issues the receipt. Your order is accepted when Paddle confirms your payment and issues your receipt.
4. Delivery and activation
The software is supplied digitally. As soon as your payment clears, a receipt page shows your licence key and your download link. That page keeps working, so save the link. If you lose it, email orders@handpresstools.co.uk with your order reference and we will send your key.
You are responsible for providing a working email address, keeping your order information safe and checking that your Windows computer meets the stated requirements before buying.
5. Your licence
A purchase gives you a licence to use the software. It does not transfer ownership of the software or its code. The separate Software Licence forms part of these terms.
The licence is for one person, on up to two computers. The checkout must show that information before payment.
6. Updates
One year of product updates is included in the initial price. Your right to use the purchased version does not expire solely because update cover ends. Continued operation may depend on Windows compatibility and any licence service disclosed at purchase.
Continued updates are optional at £25 a year for either product or £50 a year for the bundle. Renewal is never automatic. It is a manual, one-time repurchase you make yourself when you want another year of updates. The year runs from the date of your order. A lapsed plan can be restarted by buying the renewal again at the price of the day. A renewal covers every update released during the year you have paid for.
7. Cancellations and refunds
Purchases are intended to include a voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee. The detailed conditions are set out in the Refund Policy.
Digital content can be supplied during the statutory cancellation period only after the checkout obtains the consent and acknowledgement required by law. This does not remove any separate promise made under our voluntary guarantee.
8. Your legal rights
The software must match its description, be of satisfactory quality and be fit for any particular purpose we agreed with you. Nothing in these terms removes or limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including remedies for faulty or misdescribed digital content.
If you are buying as a business, consumer-only rights may not apply. Any business-specific term must be shown clearly before purchase.
9. Your files and responsibilities
You remain responsible for your source files, exported documents, backups and the final content you publish or sell. Always keep an untouched copy of important work before editing it.
Handpress does not upload document content to Handpress or an AI model for editing, layout or PDF preparation. HTML can contain remotely hosted images, fonts or other resources, and opening such a document may request them from their original host.
How Assay handles text when you use the paid AI read is explained in the Privacy page.
10. Responsibility and liability
We do not exclude liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or breach of rights that the law does not allow us to exclude.
The software helps you review and prepare work, but it does not replace your judgement. Assay findings are suggestions, not authorship decisions. You are responsible for checking the accuracy, legality and suitability of anything you deliver.
If you are buying as a business rather than a consumer, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your purchase or use of the software is limited to the amount you paid for it. This limit does not apply to consumers, whose statutory rights are not affected by it, and it does not apply to the liability described above that we cannot lawfully exclude.
11. Law and changes
These terms are intended to be governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply where you live. Final court-jurisdiction wording requires approval.
We may update these terms for future orders. The terms supplied with your order govern that purchase unless a change is required by law or you agree otherwise.
